Why Five-A-Side rather than 3v3 soccer?
Five-A-Side is a game that brings in many aspects of the true sport of soccer: technique, tactics, goalkeeping, and sportsmanship. It has the speed and excitement that comes with small sided games like 3v3, but includes a lot more thinking and tactical intuition.  Most importantly it is fun for all.

How do we know what age group to put our team into?
You should look at oldest player on your team and see what age group they are for CYS up until August. 

  • U9/10 – Born between August 1st 1999 and July 31st 2001
  • U11/12 – Born between August 1st 1997 and July 31st 1999
  • U13/14 – Born between August 1st 1995 and July 31st 1997
  • U15/16 – Born between August 1st 1993 and July 31st 1995
  • U17/18 – Born between August 1st 1991 and July 31st 1993
  • Adults – Over the age of 18

How many players can I have on the roster?
You need to have at the minimum 5 players on the team as the game consists of four field players and a goalkeeper. Roster sizes are recommended to be no more than 8-10 as only 8 can be at any one game.

What is the parking like?
The parking at Legacy Park is very large.  It is the student parking lot for Legacy High School on the east side of the fields.  Please do not park on 136th or any of the neighborhood streets.

What are the bathrooms like?
There will be portable toilets on the site. Jeff will be regularly cleaning them throughout the summer.

What are the field dimensions?
The pitch is 50 yards long and 30 yards wide. We have tested it with U15 and U11 teams and it worked well for both groups.

 

What do we do in case of bad weather?
In the case of bad weather you should call the weather hotline number at 303-466-0096 and check this website. If weather is bad as you are out at the fields, the referee’s and field marshals will use proper judgment to evacuate people off the fields. There is a pavilion shelter with coverage, but the cars or the school would be safer in many instances. The weather conditions will be monitored and schedules will be altered as needed for maintaining the games.

Will there be concessions on site?
There might be food and drinks avalable for purchase on the site. 

Are jerseys required? Shin-guards, etc?
Same colored shirts are required, but numbers on the jerseys is not.  Shin-guards and proper soccer attire (shorts, socks, cleats) are required.

Can we request certain times to play?
Games are scheduled on the same day each week for each division.  We will accept requests for certain timeslots, but cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate all requests. 

If we need to add players later on; can we? Guest Players?
Roster size is limited to 10 players at any one game.   Guest players will not be allowed.

Why did the fees go up this year?
We are charged $5-10 per player by the City of Broomfield to use the ifelds. We hadn't realized that last year! This year we had to raise the fees to accomodate their charges.
